"Supercharging" is no longer just a vocabulary that is heard in the auto field and car refitting workshop. Nowadays, more and more mass production cars are starting to assemble engines with "supercharging" function.
So, what is the turbocharger of a car engine? There are two major generals in the supercharger family - supercharging and turbocharging.
The mechanical supercharging is to make use of the engine's own power to drive a compressor and pressurize it. The turbocharger consumes the engine's power, and its speed changes with the engine's speed. Turbocharging is the use of exhaust gas generated by the engine to drive the turbofan in the exhaust pipe, and drive the turbofan in the intake pipe to rotate indirectly, so that it does not consume the power of the engine indirectly.
The two supercharging methods have their own advantages and disadvantages. Usually, the car factory's response is to avoid the oil's service life early by adding oil cooler to avoid excessive oil temperature. That's why a precise turbocharger also has an oil thermometer outside the oil pressure gauge. This is to let the owner pay attention to the condition of the oil at any time.
The two is that the cooling system is affected by high temperature. In order to avoid the bad heat dissipation of turbocharged engine, turbocharged cars will mostly reduce the temperature of compressed air by increasing the way of air inlet cooler. The cooling water tank and the thermostat will also increase properly and improve the efficiency of heat dissipation.
Turbocharged engines have some small skills in use and maintenance. For example, when approaching the destination, try not to pull the high speed, so that the turbine will work at least a minute before parking, and let the turbine rotor run too long without oil condition, which will help to maintain good condition.
Turbocharged vehicle is much simpler than turbocharged vehicle. In principle, as long as the engine is running, mechanical supercharging will come naturally, and the higher the engine speed is, the greater the pressure will be. The advantage of supercharging is that without the hysteresis phenomenon generated by turbocharging, the acceleration experience is quite linear, which is not much different from that of naturally aspirated engine. But the drawback is that the turbocharger is driven by the belt, and the driving force is still the engine, so it is not good for the performance of oil consumption.
